At long last fans of the Star Wars universe were able to see exactly where Anakin Skywalker came from and how he came to the Jedi Order. Although many people complained loudly that they did not like this movie it quickly outpaced all prior Star Wars films and remained the top-grossing Star Wars movie of all time. While that may change in the future for now we can say that money talks and sour grapes squawk. The second chapter in the “Star Wars” saga about the Skywalker family took a steep downturn in quality. Audiences did not like this film anywhere near as much as they loved “The Phantom Menace”. Although self-appointed film critics and professionals said positive things about “Attack of the Clones”, the truth is that everyone found something to complain about. Unfortunately the complaints stung George Lucas, who was just trying to tell a story. Sometimes you have to step back and say, “Right, I may not like all the details of the story, but I like the story overall.”

With Episode III George Lucas finally brought his soap-opera-in-space to a climactic halt. Having told the tale his way (mostly) Lucas let it sit on its laurels and accumulate the complaints and accolades wherever they fell. But fans were not as happy with this movie as they were with “The Phantom Menace”. Why? What went wrong (if anything) with the prequel trilogy? We take an in-depth look at what made fans happy and unhappy. But at the end of the day this movie has to end in the middle of the larger story. It may only be that the lack of a happy resolution hurt the film’s reception.
